HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

This unit covers the skills and knowledge needed to provide first aid in accordance with guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council and other national clinical bodies. It applies to anyone who may need to respond to emergencies in community or workplace settings. Licensing and refresher training requirements may vary by state or territory and should be checked with the relevant WHS authorities.

About The Course

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

Course Duration

Face to face training and assessment 4 hours and structured self-study is expected to be 12 hours.

Target Group

Target groups for the HLTAID011 Provide first aid are students who are seeking to develop or refresh their skills and knowledge in providing a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings and to further their career prospects or study pathways.

Entry Requirements

Kentford Institute has the following entry requirements:

Students must: 

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs
  • Have sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills, for example, to be able to read the training materials and write assessment tasks. This will be tested through a LLN assessment as part of the course entry process. Students will need to achieve ACSF level 2 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course.
  • Have sufficient digital literacy skills to use computer, LMS, and digital application including search engine.

Pathways
