CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support
This qualification prepares individuals to provide person-centred support in community, home, or residential care settings under supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team. It equips them with practical and theoretical knowledge to support people due to ageing, disability, or other needs. A minimum of 120 hours of work placement is required, and all skills must be applied in line with Australian laws and industry standards. No specific licensing or certification is required.
About The Course
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Course Duration
Successful completion of this qualification may take up to 40 weeks, depending on the mode of delivery and the type of enrolment, such as whether the student is undertaking a full-time, part-time, or intensive study load.

Entry Requirements
Kentford Institute has the following entry requirements:
Students must:
- Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent
- Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs
- Have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills as tested through a language, literacy and numeracy assessment. Students will need to achieve ACSF level 3 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course.
- Have sufficient digital literacy skills to use computer, LMS, and digital application including search engine.
Additional Requirements for Work Placement
Placement is a compulsory part of this qualifications. To participate, students must:
- Provide a current influenza vaccination record (as required by our placement partner).
- Provide evidence of three doses of COVID-19 vaccination.
- Be able to obtain a valid National Police Clearance (mandatory for all placements).
- Be able to obtain a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Meet any immunisation or health requirements specified by placement providers.
- Wear appropriate workplace attire and footwear during placement.
Pathways
Potential employment options are in community, home or residential setting providing support to those who require support due to ageing, disability or other reasons.
Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into a range of community services qualification such as the CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support or the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support.
Course credit
Students may apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge, and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning). The granting of course credit may affect course fees as well as the duration of the course.
